What To Do If...
Here at Westgate, the social workers often receive calls from parents about some common issues. We thought it'd be helpful to provide the information we'd give over the phone here on our website! Just click on any of the following "scenarios" and you'll be directed to some helpful information, including who you should talk to and resources we often use here at school.
What to do if...
1. Your child doesn't want to come to school.
2. Your child complains of problems with other kids at school.
3. Your child complains of problems at recess.
4. A family member or close friend has died.
5. Your pet dies.
6. Your child is complaining about a staff member at school.

The Westgate Social Workers

Hello, Westgate community! We are the Westgate social workers, Annie MacDowell (Miss Mac) and Jeff Pawelski (Mr. P). Our goal is to help students feel successful in school, and we are also a resource for parents! Jeff is the social worker for the Integrated Services program and Annie works with the general school population. We work together to provide the best services to the entire student body. We help kids deal with the social/emotional side of school such as handling anxiety, making friends, managing emotions, and improving social skills. Students receive social work services individually, in small groups, and in the classroom. This site is intended to be a communication tool for parents to learn more about what we're doing and to provide access to resources we think could be helpful to you and your child at home as well as at school. If you would like to reach us, feel free to email Annie at amacdowell@sd25.org or Jeff at jpawelski@sd25.org.
