Please see the letter below from the Director of Student Services regarding this change:
April 29, 2015
Dear AHSD 25 Families,
As you may be aware, in January of 2013, Governor Pat Quinn signed a new law extending sexual abuse education to Illinois schools. “Erin’s Law” requires schools to provide child sexual prevention education for all students, early childhood through 12th grade, yearly. District 25 had planned to begin implementation of curriculum to support this important initiative in the spring of 2015.
We have received some great questions and feedback from families about the materials, timeline and training for this implementation. In order to provide more opportunities for AHSD25 families to review this new program, we are delaying implementation of the curriculum until the 2015-2016 school year.
In the fall of 2015, we plan to provide informational opportunities for parents to learn about Erin's Law and the curriculum we plan to utilize, prior to sharing the instruction with our students. As previously communicated, parents will have the option to opt out of participation on behalf of their children, as they see appropriate.
If you have additional questions or concerns about Erin’s Law, please feel free to contact me at (847) 758-4875 or via email at [email protected].
Respectfully,
Aimée LeBlanc
Director of Student Services
