This curriculum teaches children how to self-regulate by categorizing their different feelings and states of alertness into 4 different zones: blue (moving slowly), green (in-control), yellow (losing some control), red (has lost all control). The students then learn in what situations certain zones are expected and when they are unexpected. Once the students understand the different zones and can apply them to their own life experiences, they create a "toolbox" of coping techniques for each zone.
